China has officially put into operation the entire Nanning-Pingxiang high-speed railway line, after completing the final section from Chongzuo to Pingxiang. This is considered a strategic transportation route near the Vietnamese border, playing an important role in promoting cross-border trade, logistics, and tourism between Vietnam and China.
According to China National Railways Corporation, the Nanning-Pingxiang high-speed railway consists of two sections: Nanning-Chongzuo (operational since 2022) and Chongzuo-Pingxiang, both 81 km long, designed for a maximum speed of 250 km/h, and officially operational since December 5th.
Once the entire line is operational, the travel time from Nanning to Pingxiang will be reduced to approximately 75 minutes, nearly 3 hours shorter than previous conventional train routes. This will create a high-speed transport axis directly connecting the center of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region with the Huu Nghi Quan – Pingxiang border gate, adjacent to the Huu Nghi – Lang Son border gate (Vietnam).
The opening of the Nanning-Pingxiang high-speed railway is expected to give a major boost to border trade, accelerate the flow of goods, develop regional supply chains, and promote cross-border tourism between Vietnam and China. In the long term, this route will also contribute to improving logistics infrastructure connectivity between China, Vietnam, and ASEAN, opening up more opportunities for import and export businesses.
