What are the penalties for carrying goods exceeding the length of the vehicle's cargo bed?
According to Decree 168/2024/ND-CP, amended and supplemented by Decree 238/2026/ND-CP, drivers of trucks, tractors, and similar vehicles transporting goods, including trailers and semi-trailers, will be fined if they carry goods exceeding the prescribed limits.
Specifically, the act of carrying goods exceeding the front or rear of the vehicle's cargo bed beyond the total length of the vehicle as designed and stated in the technical safety and environmental protection inspection certificate may result in penalties:
- A fine of 800,000 to 1,000,000 VND will be imposed.
- Two points will be deducted from your driver's license.
In addition, the regulations also apply to the act of carrying goods exceeding the width of the vehicle's cargo bed in the cases specified in the Decree.
Some cases require attention.
The above penalties do not apply to certain cases that are specifically stipulated, including:
- Transporting equipment that is box-shaped or container-like but not a container, exceeding the overall length stated in the inspection certificate of the trailer or semi-trailer.
- Transporting goods that do not match the information stated in the inspection certificate of the trailer or semi-trailer.
