With major ports such as Chan May, Lien Chieu, Dung Quat, Chu Lai, Quy Nhon, and Van Phong, this region has the potential to become a national logistics center and an international gateway for the Central Highlands, Southern Laos, and Northern Cambodia.<p>However, to fully exploit the advantages, the Central region needs to solve major bottlenecks in transport infrastructure, from roads, railways, waterways to aviation and logistics centers.<\/p><p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9721\" src=\"https:\/\/vietsunlogistic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/cang-chan-May.jpg\" alt=\"Cang chan May\" width=\"1432\" height=\"805\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vietsunlogistic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/cang-chan-May.jpg 1432w, https:\/\/vietsunlogistic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/cang-chan-May-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/vietsunlogistic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/cang-chan-May-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/vietsunlogistic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/cang-chan-May-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/vietsunlogistic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/cang-chan-May-18x10.jpg 18w, https:\/\/vietsunlogistic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/cang-chan-May-580x326.jpg 580w, https:\/\/vietsunlogistic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/cang-chan-May-860x483.jpg 860w, https:\/\/vietsunlogistic.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/cang-chan-May-1160x652.jpg 1160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1432px) 100vw, 1432px\" \/>Infrastructure bottlenecks hold back logistics in Central Vietnam<\/strong><\/p><ol>\n<li><strong> Roads are still lacking in synchronization.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol><ul>\n<li>National Highway 1A, despite expansion, is often overloaded.<\/li>\n<li>The North-South Expressway through the Central region is still not completed, many sections are behind schedule.<\/li>\n<li>Connecting routes such as Quang Ngai \u2013 Kon Tum or Chan May \u2013 Phu Bai \u2013 National Highway 1A need to be accelerated to reduce 20\u201340% transportation time and logistics costs.<\/li>\n<\/ul><ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong> Railways and waterways have not yet been developed.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol><ul>\n<li>The North-South railway is old, slow, and not suitable for container transport.<\/li>\n<li>Lack of branch lines directly connecting to major ports (Dung Quat, Chu Lai).<\/li>\n<li>Inland waterway transport is limited, it is necessary to develop coastal shipping to connect central ports with Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City.<\/li>\n<\/ul><ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong> Aviation and logistics infrastructure are still weak.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol><ul>\n<li>Da Nang airport mainly serves passengers, cargo has not been exploited effectively.<\/li>\n<li>Chu Lai is planned as an aviation - logistics center but implementation is slow.<\/li>\n<li>Lack of ICDs, bonded warehouses, and modern container yards causes logistics costs to increase.<\/li>\n<\/ul><p><strong>Regional linkage strategy and breakthrough mechanism are needed.<\/strong><\/p><p>According to experts, logistics in the Central region has not been effective due to the lack of synchronization and inter-regional coordination mechanisms. If each locality develops its seaports separately, it will lead to duplication and inefficiency.<\/p><p>\ud83d\udd39 Important solution:<\/p><ul>\n<li>Build an inter-regional logistics development strategy to clearly define the role of each seaport.<\/li>\n<li>Attracting investment capital using the PPP (public-private partnership) model for highways, railways, ICDs and logistics centers.<\/li>\n<li>Promote international cooperation and attract large logistics corporations.<\/li>\n<\/ul><p><strong>Opportunities from the shift in global supply chains<\/strong><\/p><p>In the context of the supply chain shifting strongly to Southeast Asia, Central Vietnam has a great opportunity to become an international trade gateway.
